One aspect of parenting that has been really difficult is feeling the
lack of much personal time. I
don’t mean that to sound selfish, but we all need time for some
self-fulfillment … even learning to take our own shower everyday with kidlets
crawling around. I’m still working
on that one! Taking the time to do something I love
actually helps me to be a more energized and patient parent. Of course our husband and kids are our
#1 and should be. But we need to
remember that we become a more beautiful and interesting wife and mother as we
have tons of personal growth.
You can also involve your children sometimes in the things
you love. I have learned to
totally enjoy politics and enjoy watching the Republican debates. So, I bought some cheep blue and red
paint, white poster board, and some sticker stars. We had an “American Day” where Brayden painted a flag
putting on all 50 stickers and we even spray painted our hairs red and blue in
preparation for the debate! I got
to have my moment of intellectual stimulation (amongst the chasing and cries of
course) while Brayden got to learn a little about our country. Whatever you love, find someway to do
it and involve your kids when you can!
